Biopics or biographical movies depict a story based on true events such as a time period, historical movement,  or one’s personal life and career. They have been increasingly popular in recent years and provide an entertaining insight into the past.

The crew of AtHomeDaily has compiled a list of our top Biopic Movies.

Donnie Brasco

In this true crime drama, FBI agent Donnie Brasco (played by Joseph D. Pistone) goes undercover in 1970s New York City to uncover the infamous Bonanno criminal family. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Fred Rogers, one of television's most endearing figures, is played by Tom Hanks in this biopic. The movie, which is based on a 1998 piece in Esquire, doesn't necessarily explore Roger's personal life but rather centers on his relationship with the unstable journalist, Tom Junod (renamed Lloyd Vogel in the film). The late Mr. Rogers's real-life wife, Joanne, makes a brief appearance in the film. She recites a line that serves to remind viewers that Rogers was just a regular guy who tried so hard to be better and kinder.

A Beautiful Mind

John Nash Jr., recipient of the Nobel Prize in mathematics, was arguably the best mathematician in history. He battled schizophrenia. The movie "A Beautiful Mind" is based on an unauthorized biography of Nash by the same name originally published by the renowned journalist, Sylvia Nasar. Filmed under Ron Howard's direction and starring Russell Crowe, it took in over $313 million at the box office and won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
