Emily arrives at the office and greets Madeline before she sits down to discuss Sylvie's replacement. Accordingly, Sylvie is thriving as she plots the success of her new company, Agence Grateau.

And that drive has translated into a slew of big-name clients (for instance: Pierre Cadault). Meanwhile, Emily is texting to ask Alfie if they’re still a couple, but Madeline dragged her to a business meeting with Tiffany & Co.

Sylvie, Luc, and Julien show up for a meeting with Tiffany at the same time that Madeline does. Because she refuses to ditch her absurd water bottle, Madeline looks more like a camp counselor than someone in charge of marketing.

After a few tense exchanges, Tiffany’s representative denies Sylvie and Madeline the meeting. She shuts the door in their faces as they press on what it takes to partner at her agency - and after Madeline threatens legal action against Sylvie for breaking their non-compete clause by luring clients to her new company.

Madeline and Emily discuss with Antoine, during which he rejects Madeline’s legal threats but agrees they need his CFO's help. It turns out that Alfie is Antoine’s CFO.

Alfie has been in Paris while making Emily think he has returned to London. Although he is upset at Emily's neglect of their relationship, it is wrong of him to lie to her and stay in the same city.

When Emily confronts her friends about their betrayal and asks how they could have known that Alfie was in Paris, the girls admit to having lied.

While Gabriel returns to the kitchen, Camille and Emily find themselves alone at their table. “We need to be honest with each other if we’re going to be friends,” says Emily.

At dinner, Alfie tells Emily that his lie was motivated by the knowledge that they were not on the same page. He then explains why he feels let down by her after she left him hanging.

After dinner and a heart-to-heart chat, Emily returns home alone. She tells Mindy about how she was too hard on herself for the breakup and says now is her chance to pick up the pieces and try again with Alfie.

Emily plunges back into work. She has to find Sylvie’s replacement and turns to Luc for help. Luc persuades Madeline to try and win back Sylvie.

Emily arrives at the Cadault event in a zebra-print outfit with her hair in an unflattering style. Nicolas de Leon, heir to JVMA and a suavely dressed attendee introduces himself.

Madeline arrives at the event. Emily is drawn by Sylvie, who arrives wearing her Cadault dress. Julien describes this “couture car crash” as a perfect metaphor for their entire rivalry. Meanwhile, Sylvie spits out at Madeline in response: "Seriously? You're trying to be me?"

Poor Madeline has her pride hurt once again when Cadault sees the gown she rented and says that it's “disgusting” of her to do so. Although Sylvie's behavior humiliates Madeline, she composes herself and asks Sylvie to return to work. Sylvie does not want to return.

Sylvie seems confident during her showdown with Madeline. However, she’s upset when Cadault informs the crowd at the retrospective that JVMA has acquired his brand. Therefore, he no longer needs Sylvie's services.

Nicolas texts her the next day, offering to put in a good word with JVMA and get her on board working for Cadault if she’s willing to jump ship.
Sylvie delays deciding on the JVMA offer. She consults with Julien and Luc, rejects the offer, and keeps her agency independent.

Episode 3 of Emily in Paris is now streaming on Netflix.
