The long-awaited first trailer for the third instalment of James Cameron's "Avatar" series, "Avatar: Fire and Ash", will premiere exclusively in theatres this weekend, preceding Marvel's "The Fantastic Four: First Steps". The official "Avatar" Twitter account confirmed this news. "Avatar: Fire and Ash" is set for a theatrical release on December 19th, with the fourth and fifth films of the franchise being lined up for December 21, 2029, and December 19, 2031, respectively.

Previously, the trailer was exclusively unveiled for CinemaCon attendees in April, offering a return to the vibrant world of Pandora and introducing two new Na’vi tribes: The air-traveling Wind Traders, and their foes, the Fire People who command flying beasts. The battle between them leads to a Na’vi falling to a flaming arrow.

In a gripping scene from the trailer, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) tells his wife Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), "We cannot live like this, baby", referring to the hostility. "Fire and Ash" picks up from where "The Way of Water" ends - as Jake and his family align with Pandora’s water tribe, Metkayina, to resist the oppressive Resources Development Administration.

"Avatar" and "The Way of Water" each raked in more than $2 billion globally, ranking as the No. 1 and No. 3 highest-grossing films of all time. If "Fire and Ash" follows in their successful steps, "Avatar" will be the only franchise with three films to reach the $2 billion mark.
