The initial reactions for George Miller's highly anticipated "Furiosa" have started pouring in on various social media platforms before its global premiere at the Cannes Film Festival later this month. The consensus suggests that the acclaimed "Mad Max: Fury Road" director has concocted yet another thrilling action epic.

Various prominent critics have shared their enthusiastic appreciation for the film. IndieWire's film critic David Ehrlich asserted, "Furiosa is remarkably good". He reported that, though the film is vastly different from 'Fury Road', it successfully deepens the richness of the original franchise while establishing its own legend in the wasteland.

Entertainment writer and member of the New York Film Critics Circle, Esther Zuckerman, as well as Fandango's Erik Davis, lauded the movie as exceptional action filmmaking. "It's a relentless and fiercely paced epic that broadens Furiosa and the Wasteland's story while showcasing over-the-top chases, extravagant characters, and simply remarkable cinematography," commented Davis.

Anya Taylor-Joy steps into the lead shoes, replacing Charlize Theron in this prequel that follows Furiosa's journey from being kidnapped from her birthplace as a young girl by the Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and his Biker Horde to seeking retribution and reunion with her family and homeland.

Journalist Simon Thompson was also full of praise: "Furiosa engulfs you. At moments, it appears to dwarf the canvas of the IMAX format for being THAT massive and yet at times maintains a deeply affecting intimacy. The cast wholly embraces Miller's rich, smart vision that echoes cinematic elements from the 50s through the 80s."

In a conversation with Total Film magazine last month, Doug Mitchell, Miller’s longtime producing partner, disclosed that a 15-minute sequence required 78-days to shoot and necessitated 200 stunt professionals on the set each day.

Taylor-Joy elaborated on the sequence's complexity to the magazine by stating: "George and I would have these elaborate discussions about why this particular set-piece was shot over an extended period. It permits the viewers to witness an accumulation of skills through the course of a battle, crucial for comprehending Furiosa's resourcefulness and perseverance."

"Furiosa" is set for its theatrical release on May 24 by Warner Bros, following its premiere at Cannes.
