"Freakier Friday": An Unexpected Delight, says Early Reviews

The film critics' consider "Freakier Friday" a triumphant blend of humor and heartfelt sentiment, commending it as a wonderful “feel-good film”. Renowned TV host, Jeff Conway, acknowledged the film as having “double the fun” and “twice the heart” compared to the original “Freaky Friday.”.

Praising the ageless on-screen synergy between Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, Conway enunciated that their performance makes the film a “true delight” that will captivate the whole family. Jazz Tangcay, Variety’s senior artisans editor, lauded the film as an “absolute riot,” stating she both “laughed” and “cried” during the touching family scenes.

The appreciation for the sequel doesn't end there. Echoing the applause, entertainment journalist Brandon Davis stated he was "howling" with laughter throughout the film's premiere. He commended Jamie Lee Curtis's performance, labeling it as pure fun to watch. He added that while the movie occasionally appeared confusing, it remained laugh-out-loud funny, even being emotional at times.

“Freakier Friday” revolves around the life of Anna, years after the original movie's events. As she tries to integrate her two families, Anna and her entire clan experience a chaotic four-way body swap. This, however, results in a little clarity amidst the complex family transition they are navigating.

Original stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprise their roles as the leading mother-daughter pair. The film also boasts the talents of Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.

Upon their return for the Disney sequel, Jamie Lee Curtis voiced her admiration for co-star Lindsay Lohan at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards. According to Curtis, Lohan taught her a lot about filmmaking and shared their mutual affection and good spirits on set. The original 2003 “Freaky Friday,” is a teenage comedy-drama based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel. It centers on a widowed mother, Tess, and her teenage daughter, Anna, who swap bodies due to a magical fortune cookie, sparking an unexpected bond between them.
