Hulu's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Revival Series Adds Five More to its Cast
- Aug 4, 2025
The upcoming reboot of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on Hulu has enlisted five more actors for its main cast. The new cast members, Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel di Tomasso, and Jack Cutmore-Scott will be joining the previously announced Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
Rakotohavana is set to play Hugo, Jean as Larkin, Bock as Gracie, Di Tomasso as Abe, and Cutmore-Scott as Mr. Burke. The series has been in development since early this year, with the storyline closely guarded. However, it is known that the plot essentially revolves around a new 'slayer' played by Armstrong with Gellar reprising her role as Buffy.
Each of the new cast members are represented by various agencies, such as Media Artists Group, Thruline Entertainment, Kutalent Agency, CESD, and UTA among others. The pilot episode is penned, showrun, and executive produced by Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman. The series is being directed by Chloé Zhao, who is also an executive producer under her Book of Shadows production banner.

Gellar, along with Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui, and Dolly Parton are all set to be executive producers through their respective production companies. The original "Buffy" series had seen all of them in executive producer roles.
There has been considerable progress with the pilot so far, with Gellar recently sharing photos from the first table read of the script. The franchise began as a film in 1992 written by Joss Whedon, with Gellar taking over the titular role for the TV series in 1997. Among the original cast members were notable actors like Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Stewart Head, David Boreanaz, Seth Green, and James Marsters. The franchise further gave rise to a spin-off series, “Angel”, lead by Boreanaz for five seasons.
