'Igniting The Spark': The Magic: The Gathering Documentary Experience

Premiering at Gen Con in Indianapolis on August 2, "Igniting The Spark – The Story of Magic: The Gathering" will soon be available for viewing on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube, Google Play, and worldwide cable providers on August 5. The documentary seeks to uncover the story behind Magic: The Gathering's global success, featuring interviews with professional players, collectors, historians, gaming executives, and many more, including the game's creator Richard Garfield and the founder of Wizards of the Coast gaming company, Peter Adkison.

The film explores the transformative journey of the game from its humble origins into a multi-billion-dollar Hasbro property and a beloved cultural icon among millions of players worldwide. The documentary is a production of The Nacelle Company, the studio known for popular culture docuseries like "The Toys That Made Us," "Icons Unearthed," and "Disney’s Behind The Attraction." The direction is helmed by Brian Stillman and Kelley Slagle, with Seth Polansky shouldering the production duties. This team had previously worked together on a project for the Nacelle Company in 2019 called "Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons".
