James Gunn Confirms Rumored Runtime for New "Superman" Film
- Jun 9, 2025
James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, recently addressed the speculations about the runtime of the much-anticipated "Superman" film. When asked by an Instagram user if the rumored timeline of two hours and nine minutes was accurate, Gunn confirmed this to be true. He added that this duration includes the film's credits and post-credits.
In response to another rumor questioning if Warner Bros. requested him to shorten the film, Gunn firmly stated, "Zero truth to that," highlighting that it's a DC Studios production, beyond Warner Bros' control.

Written and directed by Gunn and previously known as "Superman: Legacy," the upcoming film features David Corenswet as the Man of Steel. Other prominent cast members include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The film is Gunn's debut as DC Studios' director and represents the first standalone Superman movie in over a decade. The previous one was Zack Snyder’s 2013 blockbuster “Man of Steel.” This forthcoming Superman installment hits theaters on July 11.
