The new animated Predator film Predator: Killer of Killers directed by Dan Trachtenberg, has infused the franchise with fresh creative energy. The movie, which initially premiered on Hulu domestically, features an anthology-style narrative divided into three chapters, each set in a different era - the first, 17th, and 20th centuries, respectively. This innovative storytelling suggests the versatility of the franchise, illustrating the Predator's fear factor remains intact across eras, and in animated format.

Each chapter tells a simple story. "The Shield" features a middle-aged female warrior in Viking times seeking revenge, only to face a Predator. "The Sword", set in feudal Japan, involves two rival brothers uniting against a Predator after a familial loss. Finally, "The Bullet" involves a young pilot in 1941 who realizes the true nature of an alien vessel.

New Animated Predator Movie: A Creative Renewal of Franchise

Screenwriter Micho Robert Rutare and Trachtenberg tie these standalone chapters together in an unforeseen fashion adding depth to the film. True to the franchise's tradition, Predator: Killer of Killers delivers relentless action, with no dilution of violence to suit the animated format. The animation uses art styles bearing similarities to video games, which viewers might take some time to get used to. The film also features voice actor Michael Biehn, as well as numerous Easter eggs and hints for future installments of the franchise.
