A forthcoming documentary will be exploring the life and career of Whoopi Goldberg. Director Geeta Gandbhir - known for "The Perfect Neighbor" - is expected to helm the project. The project is being produced in partnership with Imagine Documentaries, Message Pictures, and One Hoe Productions.

The documentary, still untitled, is based on Goldberg's autobiography, "Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother and Me." The film is expected to provide an intimate examination of the star's life, enhancing understanding about her path to stardom and offering insights into her daily life. Among the planned highlights is a behind-the-scenes view of Goldberg's reimagined 1984 one-woman Broadway debut show, "The Whoopi Monologues," set for a Lincoln Center opening later this summer.

Geeta Gandbhir expressed her admiration for Goldberg, stating, "Whoopi Goldberg is a brilliant and groundbreaking storyteller who has shaped the entertainment landscape for years."

Sara Bernstein, President of Imagine Documentaries, echoed this sentiment, stating, "Imagine is thrilled to reunite with my friend and longtime collaborator the exceptional Geeta Gandbhir, Tom Leonardis, and Message Pictures on this extraordinary opportunity to celebrate the singular icon that is Whoopi Goldberg."

Goldberg, known for her breakthrough performance in "Ghost" which won her an Oscar, is among fewer than two dozen people in Hollywood to have reached EGOT status, having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Today, aside from producing this documentary and being a host of "The View," Goldberg and her long-time producing partner Tom Leonardis are developing "Sister Act 3" for Disney+.

Reflecting on her long and illustrious career, Goldberg stated, "That I’m still here. I didn’t fade away. I didn’t disappear. I’m still here and still doing me."
