New Folk Horror Film "Blood Shine" Slated for Release
- Jul 10, 2025
The much-anticipated folk horror feature film "Blood Shine" is set to be released this year. Melding religion, rituals, and horror, the movie by Emily Bennett and Justin Brooks captivates viewers from start to finish. The film is centered in upstate New York and chronicles Clara's religious fanaticism. Clara, portrayed by Bennett, is immersed in secluded religious rituals revering light.
"Brighton West," a horror filmmaker portrayed by David Call, finds himself ensnared in a gripping hallucinatory nexus of faith and the supernatural, following an unintentional meeting with Clara. Supporting cast members include prominent actors such as Brendan Sexton III, Larry Fessenden, and Toby Poser.

Notably, this film is the second venture by Bennett and Brooks. Their debut feature "Alone With You," with Bennett, Barbara Crampton, Emma Myles, and Dora Madison, received a FANGORIA Chainsaw Award in 2023. In addition to her directorial roles, Bennett has been involved in several short films, while Brooks has directed and worked as a cinematographer in prominent shows.
Further enhancing its promising performance, "Blood Shine" features the gore effects of Brian Spears and boasts a roster of prestigious producers such as Alexander Schepsman, Garrett Fennelly, and Zeus Kontoyannis. Paper Street Pictures' Aaron B. Koontz is handling the film's sales.
