Joanne and Noah aren't done yet.

Netflix has renewed Nobody Wants This for a fourth season, about two weeks after season three premiered on Oct. 22, Variety and TVLine report.

Kristen Bell broke the news on Instagram on Nov. 6 with the caption "season 4 is coming," over a season three clip of Adam Brody's Noah proposing, with Bell, Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons celebrating, according to E! News.

Creator Erin Foster reshared it to her Instagram Story: "It's official."

'A true cultural phenomenon'

Netflix put the renewal down to season three. "Great love stories never go out of style, and 'Nobody Wants This' has become a true cultural phenomenon," said Tracey Pakosta, Netflix's vice president of comedy series, adding that viewers around the world have embraced it "season after season," TVLine reports.

Season three drew 6.2 million views in its first four days and came in at No. 2 on Netflix's English-language TV chart, TheWrap reports. That was down 28% from season two's 8.6 million-view debut, but it was still the biggest opening weekend of any returning scripted comedy this year.

It made the Top 10 in 56 countries and hit No. 1 in 11. The show has now spent 11 weeks in Netflix's global Top 10 and passed 120 million views since it debuted in 2024.

Foster and co-showrunners Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan were thrilled. "We are so happy and thrilled to do another season of our favorite show on television," they said, adding: "which coincidentally is the one we run."

The real proposal behind the show

Bell plays Joanne and Brody plays Noah, with Simons as Sasha and Lupe as Morgan. Season three ended with Joanne and Noah engaged and married in an impromptu ceremony, after deciding to move in together, while Sasha and Morgan finally acted on their attraction and hit a major roadblock, according to TVLine.

That proposal episode came straight from Foster's own life. Her husband, Simon Tikhman, proposed to her in 2019 with a fake wedding.

"About a month before he proposed," Foster said in an Oct. 28 Instagram video, they received "a wedding vow renewal" invitation, complete with "attire and a schedule for the whole weekend." She flew to Napa Valley expecting someone else's wedding and got a proposal instead, with both families jumping out of a barn to celebrate. Foster, 44, and Tikhman share a daughter, Noa, 2, E! reports.

TVLine readers gave season three an average grade of A-, and the outlet says season four can finally settle things for Sasha and Morgan, and show Joanne and Noah as a married couple.

Netflix hasn't announced a premiere date or any cast news for season four, which will film in Los Angeles like the seasons before it.
