FX Networks' original series The People v. O.J. Simpson  American Crime Story premiered at 10 p.m. Eastern. The long campaign of teasers leading up to the premiere sparked a great deal of online discussion and anticipation surrounding the program's launch. The top nine episodes will continue to air Tuesday night, all on FXNOW (subscription required).

For those not old enough to recollect those events or those who have been young at the time of those events, the TV series is based on the dreadful O.J. Simpson murder trial.

Simpson was charged with attempting to kill his estranged wife Nicole Brown Simpson and another person close to her, Ron Goldman, whose bodies were found dead in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Several stab wounds were found in the bodies of the two victims, including all of which are attributed to Brown Simpson. The details of the promising double-murder verdict and the prose of the case in 1995 spawned a discussion about race relations, prejudice, and justice in the United States of America.

Even though many of us are well aware of what has happened, the performance from the like of Gooding Cuba Jr. keeps viewers stuck to their seats.
