Revolutionary Film "I'm Not an Actor" set to Debut in India

The much-anticipated movie "I'm Not an Actor"(Main Actor Nahin Hoon) starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satarupa will officially debut in India on May 8, distributed by Platoon One Films. The film has already run in the UK and earned multiple awards for the two leads in its festival circuit.

Responsible for both writing and directing the film is Aditya Kripalani. He co-produced alongside Sweta Chhabria Kripalani of Mumba Devi Motion Pictures and Faizuddin Siddiqui of Side Hero Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The story revolves around Mouni (Satarupa), a principled Mumbai actor and her unique connection with Adnan Baig (Siddiqui), a recently retired banker in Frankfurt. Their online acting class and deep conversations over video calls help them unearth latent emotions.

"I'm Not an Actor" marks a new era in Indian cinema as it was shot live across India and Germany simultaneously, recorded over 28 days. Despite the challenges posed by different time zones and contrasting weather conditions in Frankfurt and Mumbai, the two leads performed in real time on video calls, adding to the film’s innovative format.

The film premiered at Cinequest where Siddiqui won the best male actor award at the 25th New York Indian Film Festival and Satarupa won the best female actor award. Aditya Kripalani was awarded the best director prize at the DC South Asian Film Festival. After its initial UK release in October 2025, it's now set to release in Germany following its India opening.

Shiladitya Bora, founder of Platoon One Films, which is distributing the film, commented on the film’s potential impact. He said that Kripalani's independent perspective redefines filmmaking, which aligns with their vision at Platoon One.

Kripalani expressed excitement regarding the film’s reception, citing Nawaz’s comedic elements as a driving factor for its acclaim. Siddiqui mirrored a similar sentiment, endorsing the communal experience of viewing, given the film’s reception in New York and San Jose.
