Ryan Reynolds Disguised as Deadpool Surprises Fans at Comic Con

In a surprising move, Ryan Reynolds attended Comic Con disguised as his beloved character, Deadpool, but not in the traditional red costume - instead, opting for a grey denim suit. Fans taking photographs with what they believed to be a Deadpool cosplayer, were flabbergasted when it turned out to be Reynolds himself. The actor posted a video of his disguise, revealing that he was able to wander the convention floor unrecognised.

He expressed appreciation to fans stating, “The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago." He fondly recalled the journey of Deadpool over the years and was grateful for the chance to connect up-close with the fans whose “unapologetic devotion brings so much joy." He also expressed gratitude for the freedom to interact without security or ropes, considering it a gift. He gave credit not only to cosplayers but also to those who are building their world.

The video highlighted a moment when Reynolds attended a Marvel presentation and was humorously called out by Robert Downey Jr., who questioned his unfamiliar outfit. This led to Reynolds cracking a joke about the costliness of announcing a film this way.

Reynolds confirmed that there will be another Deadpool movie eventually, potentially featuring some “deep cuts” from the character’s comics. Enthusiastically referring to potential new narrative elements, Reynolds said, “There’s certainly some stuff that I love that [Deadpool co-creator] Fabian [Nicieza] wrote that is incredible…and Gerry Duggan… that we can put in, but then there’s stuff upcoming." Following the major success of 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine", Reynolds confirmed he had started writing for Deadpool’s return but hinted the antihero would play more of a supporting character.
