"Super Troopers" Crew Back in Spotlight with Anticipated Third Installment

The comedic team, Broken Lizard featuring Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, are revving up for another hilarious ride with Searchlight Pictures for the third installment of the beloved “Super Troopers” franchise. They have already composed the script for “Super Troopers 3,” setting the stage for Chandrasekhar to return as director, backed by Richard Perello’s production.

The squad, including Chandrasekhar, will once more embody their iconic characters, joined by Brian Cox returning as Captain John O’Hagan and Marisa Coughlan as Ursula Hanson. New cast members include Nat Faxon in the role of Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford as Baker Buchanan, and Andrew Dismukes as Coy Burns. The primary photography of the film is scheduled to start by the end of this week.

Matthew Greenfield, the President of Searchlight, expresses the company’s enthusiasm over the continuation of the ‘Super Troopers’ series, appreciating the absurd humor the franchise offers. He is eager to welcome audiences on new amusing patrol ventures with these characters.

Chandrasekhar, speaking on behalf of Broken Lizard, shows excitement about revitalizing movie theater comedy, chuckling that “It’s mustache-growing time for America!”

“Super Troopers” was introduced by Fox Searchlight in 2001 after being discovered at Sundance Film Festival. It earned the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival and later on, a sequel was released in 2018, both being directed by Chandrasekhar, written and performed by the entire Broken Lizard team.

Searchlight Pictures’ project will be supervised by Creative Executive Apolline Berty, Vice President of Production Richard Ruiz, and Creative Executive Daniel Yu, reporting to Co-Heads of Film Production & Development, DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.

The Broken Lizard team, apart from their work on the past “Super Troopers” movies, participated in “Club Dread” and “Quasi”. They have also worked on other films like “Beerfest” and “The Slammin’ Salmon.” Heffernan and Lemme are also known as the creators and stars of TruTV’s hit comedy “Tacoma FD.” Cox had appeared alongside the Broken Lizard team in both the prior “Super Troopers” movies and has taken part in acclaimed movies such as “X2: X-Men United,” “Troy,” and “The Bourne Supremacy.” Coughlan also starred in earlier “Super Troopers” films along with other films like “Space Station 76” and “Teaching Mrs. Tingle.” Faxon, Crawford, and Dismukes bring their diverse experience and accolades to the table for this comedic endeavor with Searchlight Pictures.
