Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

There might not ever be a television drama with a more finely written script. Over the course of five seasons, Breaking Bad ensured that every scene and episode contributed to a larger goal. The episode recounted the narrative of Walter White, a cancer-stricken chemistry teacher who teams up with a former student to cook and sell methamphetamine.

Band Of Brothers (2001)

Band of Brothers' scope was really remarkable. The HBO miniseries consisted of ten episodes and had a budget of $125 million, comparable to that of a blockbuster film. It depicted the history of a United States Army battalion during World War II, based on the same-titled book published in 1992. It helped that Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who had previously cooperated on the critically acclaimed World War II picture Saving Private Ryan, developed the miniseries. They nailed all the necessary features and provided viewers with an authentic experience. Both the Emmy and the Golden Globe for Best Miniseries were given to Band of Brothers.

Chernobyl (2019)

Chernobyl, 2019 five-episode miniseries produced by HBO, depicted the 1986 nuclear tragedy and the agonizing cleanup that followed. Due to the weighty nature of the subject matter, this is not a binge-watchable show. Chernobyl is an intriguing nightmare of a mystery, but its true brilliance resides in its depiction of the danger and anguish of radiation. This event served as both a tragedy and a memorial to those who lost their lives. Fans and critics unanimously praised the miniseries.

The Wire (2002-2008)

Returning to the HBO universe for The Wire. The story was told truthfully and centered on the interwoven lives of law enforcement and criminals in Baltimore. The creator of the show, David Simon, had experience as a reporter for the Baltimore Sun, which contributed to the show's authenticity and rawness. Many believe this crime drama to be one of the best television programs of all time. Despite this perception, The Wire never won any major prizes throughout its tenure. It did help Idris Elba, Michael B. Jordan, Michael K. Williams, and others establish their careers. It is practically impossible to find a superior police drama.

Game Of Thrones (2011-2019)

This is the most ambitious television program ever. Game of Thrones was one of the most expensive television series ever produced. Typically, a fantasy story like this would not appeal to the masses, yet this one became a crossover phenomenon that broke viewership records.

Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and Arya Stark are some of the most recognizable characters from Game of Thrones. It also gave us amazing scenes such as the notorious Red Wedding and the origin story of Hodor. If the final season had been better received, the series would have likely rated higher. Regardless of how one feels about the conclusion, Game of Thrones was a fantastic achievement and one of the most acclaimed television series of all time.

The Sopranos (1999-2007)

The Sopranos followed the narrative of a New Jersey crime boss as he attempted to balance family and business concerns while seeking psychological therapy. It was revolutionary, particularly when it debuted in 1999. James Gandolfini and Edie Falco, among others, contributed to The Sopranos' global success. It was virtually always steeped in controversy, yet people continued to return for more. Throughout its tenure, the show received over twenty honors.
