Anya wakes up to a brand-new reality at the beginning of the episode. She lives independently, works an unremarkable job as a grocery clerk, and eats microwave dinners. Her boss asks her about her future goals and work schedule for the following day. Her supervisor is friendly, but her positive attitude is a touch unsettling.

She goes to a support group after work and talks about how her cancer suddenly regressed after the Midnight Club ceremony. But Anya feels "chewed up and thrown out" by the universe rather than being selected and saved.

Anya calls her old friend Rhett after finding his contact in the phone book. However, despite Anya pleading for him to reassure her that everything will be fine, he is cold toward her. She tells him with teary eyes that instead of disappearing, he should just have returned and sought to assist her. Rhett disconnects.

When Anya returns to the grocery shop, a bloody hammer resembling the one Dusty used in Kevin's (Igby Rigney) story appears on her belt conveyor. This is when things get strange. The woman who put it there has blood all over her, and other than her name, she resembles Dusty's mother. Anya's employer takes the conversation over who treats the bleeding hammer like a regular item that needs a price tag.

On her way home, Anya makes a stop at the video game store, where she is thrilled to spot Amesh (Sauriyan Sapkota) present and in good health. Sadly though, this isn't Amesh. Luke, a character from Amesh's narrative, is the one who does not know who Anya is. The characters from her friends' stories look just like them start to arrive, and Anya sees them. She becomes terrified and rushes home.
