While 2022 was a fantastic year for movies, 2023 is shaping up to be a close second. Martin Scorsese, Greta Gerwig, Ben Affleck, Ridley Scott, Sofia Coppola, and Yorgos Lanthimos will all release new features in 2023. Numerous popular franchises will have sequels in 2023, including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Dune: Part Two, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning (Part One), Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and countless others.

65 (March 17)

The 65 in the title was supposed to be a mystery at first. But, either no one told the Sony marketing team or they changed their minds. It's quite clear from the trailer what the 65 is alluding to. Adam Driver portrays a space traveler whose ship crashes into an alien world. He quickly learns that he has crashed on Earth, but that it is the Earth from 65 million years ago. He must now deal with dinosaurs while also trying to figure out how to return to his own Earth. It has the elements of horror, science fiction, and dinosaurs, which makes it sound like a lot of fun. John Wick: Chapter 4 (March 24)

The threatening advertising for John Wick: Chapter 4 has made it one of the most anticipated movies of 2023. Posters for John Wick 4 show a bullet-filled hourglass, and previews suggest that the protagonist, played by Keanu Reeves, has only "one way out." This raises hopes that the fourth installment in the series would significantly alter the series' trajectory. Movie regulars Ian McShane (Winston), Lance Reddick (Charon), and Laurence Fishburne (Bowery King) will all be back, and newcomers bad boy Bill Skarsgard (The Marquis), Shamier Anderson (The Tracker), and Clancy Brown (The Harbinger) will round out the cast. With the promise of a showdown between Caine (Donnie Yen) and Shimazu (Hiroyuki Sanada) in Chapter 4, the tension between fans of Stahelski's flicks has reached a new high.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5)

James Gunn had previously claimed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would conclude this team's journey, but that was before it was announced that this would also be Gunn's final picture for Marvel, as he has now gone on to become the co-CEO of DC Studios. GotG Vol. 3 seems to be gearing up to be a goodbye to this interplanetary company of misfits, however, it remains to be seen if these characters will continue on in some other form. Possible final farewell to Gunn and the Guardians. Looks like we'll get an origin narrative for Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) as well as more insight into Star-Lord and Gamora's (Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana) dynamic (voiced by Bradley Cooper).

Fast X (May 19)

First, let's address the elephant in the room: how is Fast X not called Fasten Your Seatbelts? Of all the absurdity in this franchise, this might be the most egregious choice so far. But let's move past that, and just look at that cast! In addition to seeing franchise mainstays like Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, and the return of Jason Statham and John Cena, this is absurdly packed, even for a Fast and Furious film. You've got multiple Oscar winners, as Brie Larson and Rita Moreno make their Fast debuts, plus the addition of Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa, and The Suicide Squad's Daniela Melchior. It's also still shocking to believe that Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron continue to be a part of this series, which is just tremendous
