Watching the appropriate movie at the right time might totally alter your frame of mind when you're feeling particularly stressed out.

There is something to be said for turning on a movie when you have a particularly trying day because it can help you get through it.

Some movies allow you to temporarily escape reality, others make you laugh, others are so upsetting that watching them is therapeutic, and still others fall somewhere in between these two extremes.

There is nearly always a movie that is ideal for you. Whether you are looking for something that will make you laugh or something serious that will leave you feeling optimistic. To help you get started with de-stressing, here are a few movies that you can watch.

The Producers

If you want to laugh so hard that your sides hurt, you should watch this hilarious comedy film from 1968. The two major characters are played by comedy legends Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel. There is no other duo who can compare to their comedic chemistry.

Inside Out

This computer-animated story about the inner workings of a little girl's mind is a Disney production. Its upbeat plot touch on topics such as loneliness, rage, grief, and pure joy. It is sure to put a smile on your face and make you feel better. And it imparts crucial life lessons for mental health. For example, the fact that crying is therapeutic. Being around other people makes it easier to deal with difficult emotions. Lastly, expressing one's feelings is the most effective method to feel better.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

The film Ferris Bueller's Day Off, starring Matthew Broderick, is considered to be one of the actor's most successful works. The film brilliantly depicts the sincerity, humor, and concerns about the future that are typical of high school seniors. You will find yourself chuckling throughout the succession of amusing antics that take place as a bunch of teenagers visit Chicago.

Amélie

This French movie has everything a person looking for a peaceful pleasant movie should be looking for, and more besides. This narrative of a young woman yearning for love and attempting to improve the lives of others around her is smart and out of the ordinary at the same time. Quirky and a touch goofy describes it perfectly.

Legally Blonde

It is difficult to believe that Reese Witherspoon is not well-liked wherever she goes. However, the character that Reese Witherspoon plays in the incredibly hilarious film Legally Blonde deals with the issue of not fitting in with her fellow Harvard law students with style, grace, and her signature bend and snap.

Ocean's Eleven 

This one is for those of you thrill-seekers and action/adventure fans out there who want to laugh their way through a film that's packed with famous faces. Ocean's Eleven is a story about a major heist that takes place in Las Vegas. It is stylish, has a rapid pace, and is a lot of fun for anyone who wants to forget about their worries.

Cool Runnings

If you're looking for something that will bring back some fond memories, you won't find a better story than the one about the Jamaican bobsled team competing in the Winter Olympics. This Disney classic is chock with hilarious slapstick and pratfalls. It still manages to stay true to its core message of the underdogs triumphing in the end.
