“You People” is a romantic comedy starring Jonah Hill. Hill's character, Ezra Cohen, is a financial broker and also hosts a podcast. You won't have any trouble warming up to him in spite of this fact. He calls himself a "West-L.A. Jew" to characterize his background.

From the perspective of his younger sister Liza (Gordon), he has an obsession with shoes. He is a fan of hip-hop, and has the appearance of "a dad who lost his kid at Coachella." After he and his podcast co-host Mo (Jay) have a conversation on the culture of the American melting pot, he drags himself to the workplace. However, he sits at his desk and stares into space because his heart just isn't in it.

He doesn't have a significant other and tends to spend a lot of time alone. All of that changes when he, sigh, gets into the wrong car believing it's his Uber. This is how he endearingly meets Amira Mohammed (London). Amira is a costume designer who doesn't blink an eye when he shows up to their first date in a tie-dye sweatsuit.

The female character of You People is based in London. The next thing you see is an absolutely adorable montage of cute dates. During this, the couple buys the same sneakers, wears them at the same time, and declares their undying love for one another. Despite the fact that the world around them is in turmoil and she is black and he is white, none of that matters when you're in love. This is the premise of You People - navigating a world that sees color when love should prevail.

You People - Six Months Later

You People on Netflix - Movie Review

You are aware of what must occur after a period of six months. Yes, they are required to Have A Talk With The Parents. They proceed to the Cohen home in Brentwood, which is roomy and has so much natural light. You'd be fooled into thinking it was constructed precisely 48 inches from the surface of the sun. Arnold (David Duchovny), Ezra's father, is a podiatrist amongst a long lineage of podiatrists.

Shelley (Louis-Dreyfus), Ezra's mother, feels the need to bring up to Amira how terrible the police treat Black people, and now we know where Ezra learned how to ramble He then goes out and purchases an engagement ring, which is when he initially comes into contact with Akbar (Murphy) and Fatima Mohammed (Nia Long). He invites them out to lunch to ask for their blessing, and it is during this time that he realizes how intense Amira's father can be. The question that he asks is, "So you want to marry my daughter?" "You can give it a shot."

And he does make an effort. The families of Cohen and Mohammad get together for a dinner party that, sigh, will not at all be catastrophically embarrassing and will not end with something exploding into flames, right? Ha ha: This scene contains the line of dialogue "Are you attempting to compare the Holocaust to slavery?"

During this portion of the movie, both Ezra and Amira gaze across the table at each other with exasperated expressions on their faces. There is another part in which every family brings their own wedding planner to the scene, at which point it is made very plain that this is a battle. Shelley's monumental tone deafness has not improved, and Akbar has not stopped trying to embarrass Ezra at every available chance. Will the challenges that our couple faces serve just to harden their determination, or will the circumstances prove to be intolerable?

You People is available for streaming on Netflix.
