Adele Set to Debut on the Big Screen in Tom Ford's 'Cry to Heaven'
- Nov 13, 2025
Grammy-awarded Adele is transitioning from the music stage to the silver screen in her acting debut in Tom Ford's upcoming film, 'Cry to Heaven.' The film, directed, produced and written by the fashion tycoon-turned-filmmaker, is an adaptation of Anne Rice's 1982 novel. Set in the scene of the 18th century Italy, the narrative explores the intricate fates of a Venetian noble and a castrated Opera singer.
Adele will be in distinguished company, featuring alongside Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannenmann and Lux Pascal in the film.
'Cry to Heaven' is currently in the pre-production phase in London and Rome, with primary shooting scheduled to start in January. The anticipated release of the movie is in autumn 2026. Ford, responsible for financing the film independently, will be looking for a buyer post-production, as told by Deadline that shed the first light on the news of the project.

In his career journey, Ford, the founder of his namesake fashion label, came into the film industry after being the creative head at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. His directorial journey began with the Oscar-nominated 'A Single Man' in 2009 followed by 'Nocturnal Animals' in 2016, which bagged the grand jury prize at Venice and had a supporting actor Oscar nomination for Michael Shannon. 'Cry to Heaven' brings Ford back into collaboration with Taylor-Johnson and Firth, from 'Nocturnal Animals' and 'A Single Man' respectively.
Stepping away momentarily from her successful music career, where she belted hits like 'Hello,' 'Chasing Pavements,' 'Rolling in the Deep' and the Oscar-winning 'Skyfall,' Adele disclosed her intent to explore other creative pursuits in July 2024, after the wrap of her Las Vegas residency. She admitted that she doesn't have any plans for new music currently and wants a considerable break to delve into other creative spheres.
