Season 3 of The Boys on Amazon Prime is coming soon and we wanted to put together a little primer to get you ready for what promises to be another over-the-top thrill ride.

When is it Coming Out?

When we last checked in on The Boys, the finale of Season 2 was released in October 2022. Season 3 will debut on June 3, 2022, with the first 3 episodes available to stream immediately. Then, 8 weekly episodes will be released through July 8.

Which Characters Survived Season 2?

First off, we have the members of The Boys, all of whom survived the finale of season 2 physically. Mentally? With this group, who knows. But, we’ll have the full complement of Butcher, Hughie, Mother’s Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko back for season 3.

On the other side of the spectrum, we have the super ‘heroes’ the Seven. Although, they don’t quite hit that number at the moment. Returning are, Homelander, Queen Maeve, Starlight, and A-Train. The Deep is still on the bench and thankfully, Stormfront is sidelined after being severely wounded and exposed as a Nazi at the end of season 2.Black Noir is also sitting it out following season 2.

What are they up to?

The Boys have largely gone their separate ways to kick off season 3, with Butcher joining a government agency monitoring the Supes, Hughie still trying to take a stand against the Supers without quite so much mayhem, Mother’s Milk has gone home to his family, and Frenchie and Kimiko are figuring out their relationship.

The Seven have been being Supes. Homelander and A-Train know that Starlight has betrayed them to the Boys. Maeve still stands against Homelander after he became something of a Stormfront sympathizer last season.

New Characters

With the Seven down to the Four, we’ll need some new Supes. Enter Soldier Boy, a clear alternate take on Captain America. He is apparently this world’s first superhero, now coming back into action. We can expect him to clash with Homelander in some spectacular ways. We will also meet Crimson Countess, Gunpowder, Supersonic, and Blue Hawk, as additional Supes.

Clues from the Trailer

The trailer includes a bunch of quick cuts to various scenes. Without a clip-by-clip breakdown it’s hard to say exactly what all is happening, but here are a few highlights.

Butcher becomes a Supe! We definitely see Butcher exhibiting Homelander like powers. Assuming this is real, it will be a real twist and make his quest for vengeance against the leader of the Seven more feasible.

Soldier Boy really does look like a knock-off on Captain America, down to perhaps coming out of a cryogenic pod and using a shield when he fights.

Hughie and Starlight seem to still be together, so we have that going for us.

Homelander has found a new supply of milk. But, he’s at least as creepy as ever.

We see several exploding bodies, so we can assume the bloodshed, mayhem, and body count will remain on part with previous seasons.
