Blockbuster store manager Timmy Yoon (Randall Park) routinely helps another customer choose a movie. However, this will be his last routine customer interaction.

A call informs him that seven of the Last eight Blockbuster franchises and the corporate office have closed. He realizes his store is the Last Blockbuster store. Timmy tells Eliza Walker (Melissa Fumero), an employee and childhood friend.

Timmy and Eliza share things, such as she just split from her cheating husband. Eliza suggests a block party for the town. Timmy and Eliza keep the news to themselves, but tech-savvy Kayla (Kamala Fairburn) announces it.

Timmy quotes a rousing speech from Independence Day to lift up his employees, but Eliza pops the bubble. However, the employees do get Timmy’s message.

Timmy and Eliza visit the store of Timmy’s friend, Percy (J. B. Smoove), to plan the party. Percy suggests a ridiculous idea that Eliza discourages. Timmy lets it slip that Eliza and her husband have split, and she leaves in anger.

Timmy, Percy, and another store employee, Carlos (Tyler Alvarez), go to a bar to continue planning the party. Carlos and Percy give Timmy advice about Eliza. Carlos suggests that Timmy pursue a relationship, but Percy says it’s a bad idea.

They prepare the store for the party. Percy brought a giant, inflatable gorilla but set it on fire with a rocket cracker. The party flops but a reporter inquired about the gorilla incident after seeing a video Carlos and Kayla uploaded. Timmy isn’t sure what to say, but Eliza encourages Timmy to give his rousing speech to the townspeople. It works, and Timmy thanks, Eliza. They both apologize, but Eliza’s husband enters the store to pick up Eliza. Eliza explains her daughter is upset, so she is going back to her husband.
