What happens?

Episode 3, “A Bee in your Bonnet” kicks the steamy, dreamy world of the Bridgertons up a notch.

Seeking to win Kate’s approval in his match with Edwina, Anthony invites the Sharma family to the Bridgerton’s country home.

In a flashback, we see a rather tender, emotional set of memories relating to the death of Anthony’s father, the Viscount. We learn just how shocked and upset Anthony was to have to take on the role himself in the immediate aftermath. And, we see how his relationship with his mother, Violet, was impacted as well.

However the true charm of the episode comes in the form of a family game of Pall Mall (a lawn game with similar rules to croquet.) Though Edwina doesn’t quite have the competitive spirit of the Bridgertons, Kate manages to make an impression.

Worth the watch?

Absolutely, especially the last 4 minutes of the episode. Romance, sexual tension and forbidden longing abounds. Perhaps our viscount has found love after all.

This episode also gives more intimate moments 1-on-1 with character pairings we haven’t seen much of. We get another snippet of our Lady Whistledown, who enters into an agreement with Madame Delacroix, the modiste (or seamstress) of London’s elite. And, the loveable second-in-line Bridgerton brother Benedict receives exciting news for his art career.

And, observative sister Daphne makes her concerns known to Anthony, and implores him to choose a wife for a love match like the one she found in Season 1 with the Duke of Hastings. A proposal feels imminent, before the rest of the town arrives for the Bridgerton ball at the end of the week, but the episode leaves us wondering just what will happen next.
