In this episode, we see the Bridgertons preparing for their annual Hearts and Flowers Ball at Aubrey Hall. 

Who will Anthony choose to make his wife? By the end of the episode, we finally have our answer. 

What happens? 

While Violet and Daphne are preparing the venue for the arrival of their guests, Anthony laments inviting the Sharmas to stay with them before the party. The failed proposal at dinner at the end of the last episode is clearly still on his mind, as is his encounter with Kate in the garden.

Edwina notices that Kate too has been distant since the bee sting, and implores her to speak with Anthony and ensure he will propose to her by the end of the ball. (This might backfire later in the season).

Edwina pushes Kate to join the rest of the men in attendance on their hunt (rather improper but of course, Kate couldn’t care less about the rules of the man’s world). Anthony objects but is quickly overruled. Cue the steamy forest scene of forbidden love. 

Meanwhile, we have another stressful encounter with Penelope and Eloise, as the best friends drift apart due to Eloise’s continued adventures to see the printshop’s apprentice in her quest to learn more about women’s rights and of course, uncover Lady Whistledown. 

Poor Penelope can’t seem to catch a break either, as Colin drags the drama of Season 1 into the mix, visiting his old flame Marina who has now been married to Lord Crane (covering up her scandalous pregnancy). 

Worth the watch?

At the halfway point of the season, we can certainly see the tensions building and the turning point nearing. 

Daphne again implores her brother to marry for the right reasons - after noticing how similar he and Kate are - and for the first time, Anthony seems to crack. 

At the ball, Edwina pushes Anthony and Kate together for a dance, and the electricity is palpable. (It seems everyone from Lady Danbury to Daphne to Violet has noticed at this point). Yet Kate still insists he must propose to her sister.

The most scandalous moment of the season yet, witnessed by a certain nosy sister, also takes place. These two lovebirds just can’t seem to stay away from one another.

But by the final moments of the episode, the unthinkable happens. Just when Anthony and Kate seem to have acknowledged their feelings for each other, he makes his choice.
