Capturing the Perfect Solo: “Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall” to Premiere at New York Film Festival

Paul Thomas Anderson's concert film “Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall” is set to make its worldwide premiere at the New York Film Festival on October 1st. Alice Tully Hall will host this esteemed event, with both Anderson and Winter present for the auspicious occasion. This solo performance by the Geese's frontman at the renowned New York City venue last year has been beautifully captured in the film. It has been directed and filmed by Anderson on 35mm and 16mm formats. The music was recorded and produced specifically for the movie by award-winning producer Ariel Rechtshaid, known for his work with Vampire Weekend and Adele. Filmmaker and actor Benny Safdie shared co-producing credits, while Sara Murphy, Erica Frauman, and Maggie Ambrose are credited as producers.

Dennis Lim, NYFF's Artistic Director, praised the film, emphasizing the exceptional skill and talent on display, stating that Anderson's depiction of Cameron Winter's triumph at Carnegie Hall was "a concert movie for the ages."

The New York Film Festival has added "Cameron at Winter Hall" to its impressive roster, which includes titles like “Behemoth!” penned and directed by Tony Gilroy, "14th," a new documentary from Ava DuVernay, and the ground-breaking monster epic "Godzilla Minus Zero" from Takashi Yamazaki.

Among a slew of anticipated titles headed to the festival are Ryûsuke Hamaguchi’s French-language drama "All of a Sudden," "Clarissa" - Arie Esiri and Chuko Esiri's reinterpretation of "Mrs. Dalloway," "Fatherland" - Paweł Pawlikowski’s Greyscale postwar drama, and "Minotaur" - the Grand Prix’s winner film directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev.

The festival, established in 1963, is set to commence on September 25th. It begins with the North American screening of James Gray’s period thriller "Paper Tiger," featuring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, and Miles Teller.
