Caught Stealing: Darren Aronofsky's Unexpected Crime Caper

Darren Aronofsky surprises audiences with an unorthodox venture into the crime genre with his film, Caught Stealing. In the film, Austin Butler stars as the protagonist, Hank, a once promising baseball player whose career was stalled due to injury. Hank now finds himself aimlessly bartending in a New York bar, caught in the brutal underbelly of the late '90s Lower East Side, before the full effects of gentrification came into play. The character of Russ, played by Matt Smith, adds a distinctive British punk flavor to the narrative and initiates the main action of the story, unknowingly drawing Hank into a dangerous plot involving Russian mobsters seeking Russ's hidden drug money.
