Cynthia Erivo to Produce Adaptation of Adrian Tchaikovsky's "Saturation Point"
- Jul 6, 2025
Grammy, Tony, and Emmy-winner Cynthia Erivo is set to produce the movie adaptation of Adrian Tchaikovsky's science-fiction action thriller "Saturation Point". The film will be developed under Universal, featuring a screenplay adaptation by Minnie Schedeen. The story revolves around Dr. Jasmine Marks leading a risky mission into a harsh rainforest known as The Zone, unravelling the reality that intelligent lifeforms are not restricted to humans.
Erivo will handle the film's production through her own company, Edith's Daughter, collaborating with Solome Williams. Edith's Daughter had secured a first-look agreement with Universal last year, bolstering Erivo's affiliation with the studio following her leading role as Elphaba in the highly successful movie adaptation of the Broadway musical "Wicked". The film, which received 10 Academy Award nominations and clinched two Oscars, also had Erivo nominated for the Best Actress category.
Michael Bay and Brad Fuller are also attached to "Saturation Point", producing under their first-look agreement with the studio via the Platinum Dunes banner. Alex Ginno is set to executive produce and supervise the project for Platinum Dunes, a company whose films such as the "A Quiet Place" franchise, the "Purge" series, and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" have collectively grossed over $3 billion worldwide.

Ryan Jones, senior VP of production development for Universal Pictures, and Christine Sun, the studio's director of production development, will also oversee the project.
Erivo is presently affiliated with UTA, Entertainment 360, Peikoff Mahan, and the Lede Company, while Bay liaises with Rich Cook at Range Media Partners and Fuller is represented by UTA and Sloane Offer Weber and Dern. Tchaikovsky, the well-versed author of the award-winning series "Children of Time", is represented by Simon Kavanagh and Oliver Cheetham at the Mic Cheetham Agency and UTA. Schedeen, known for adapting her short story 'Exoplanet' into an Amazon film, collaborates with UTA, Untitled, and Ziffren Brittenham.
