The second episode of Devil in Ohio opens with Suzanne calling Mae first thing in the morning to see how she is doing. She says she'll find a nice home for Jules, but in the meantime, she dresses in her daughter's clothes without asking. Jules's irritation is understandable, but the whole family is taken aback as a bird flies through the air and slams against the window. Feeling any strong Servant undertones here?

Suzanne leaves Mae off at the family services facility to get checked out before going to a foster home, while Peter takes the poor bird to the bird sanctuary. It's closed. Peter leaves the box at the front entrance but has second thoughts when he sees birds circling the house ominously.

Peter is in debt and may face foreclosure. It's hit or miss if he'll obtain more time from the bank.

Detective Lopez questions Mae at the hospital. Suzanne declines, citing her age and astonishment. Suzanne finds Mae a foster family, so she'll be going on shortly.

Mae has bonded with Jules, whom she uncomfortably tells about her background. Jules smiles, but she's uncomfortable.

Morning finds Detective Lopez in Amon County. When he approaches where Mae was picked up, near a 67 sign, he has no signal. He finds the bloody knife in the bushes.

Lopez searches cornfields and bare tracks. He finds a frightening scarecrow with a severed pig's head and a mysterious sign carved below.

When Detective Lopez returns to his car, Amon County Sherriff Wilkins and his dog are waiting. This is episode 1's shady guy. Lopez said no missing person report has been filed and they've uncovered no definitive proof. Lopez leaves, but there's more going on.
