Mae continues her ritual in the first scene of episode 7 while pleading to remain with her family.

Then Suzanne approaches her and informs her that they have located a facility named Fernwell where she can go in safety. When Mae begs Suzanne if she may return, Suzanne responds emphatically that the entire purpose of moving towards this location is so she will no longer require her. Mae concurs, but only if she can attend the Harvest Dance.

Detective Lopez informs Suzanne about a fire that broke out in an Amontown squat house the same night during the full moon. Both of them wonder if Enoch, the youngster who escaped the cult, is James Dressler, the priest. They think they can help Mae's case over her father if they can persuade this man to testify.

Devil in Ohio S1 E7: 'By Blood' Recap

Prior to the Harvest Dance, Mae makes it known that she will be attending the event with Teddy, Helen's former boyfriend (she recently left him). Mae is also wearing a dress belonging to Suzanne. Jules and Helen are horrified by this.

In his church, Suzanne confronts James Dressler who gives her the name, "Enoch." Although he tries to flee, Detective Lopez surrounds him. Finally, he discusses his interactions with Malachi Dodd. He alleges that Sheriff Wilkins set the squat home on fire.

James provides more details about his past, saying that he reasoned that perhaps the demonic cult would not seek him out if he served as a priest in the church since they'd not look there. The procedure is then timed to the full moon, he reveals. Mae has a scar on her back since she will participate in the upcoming rite.
