Trachtenberg, better known as the director of "Predator: Badlands", has been developing “Freddy the 13th,” an animated interpretation of the graphic horror novel about an unlucky 13th-born son, Freddy Vanwinkle, whose endeavors often backfire. While the title of the movie may sound unnerving, the producers assure that it's a PG-rated delight which aims at bringing laughter to families. The narrative portrays an ordinary family trip that descends into a nightmare after the fun character, Uncle Freddy, unknowingly kills the Boogeyman incur his powers.

Dan Trachtenberg who has mostly produced films aimed at mature audiences writes on Instagram, “I’m delighted to announce that in collaboration with @supermercadocomics and @paramountpics, I'm finally creating a movie that parents can comfortably show to their kids.”

Trachtenberg is joined by Yehudi Mercado, the author of the original graphic novel, in co-directing the film. Alongside Ben Rosenblatt, Trachtenberg serves as the producer under a recently signed three-year first-look agreement with Paramount Pictures. Prior to this venture, Trachtenberg has an impressive portfolio, making directorial debut with “10 Cloverfield Lane” and going on to direct “Prey”, the animated film “Predator: Killer of Killers” and “Predator: Badlands”. He's also directed episodes of popular series such as “The Boys,” “The Lost Symbol” and “Black Mirror.”

The unveiling of "Freddy the 13th" took place at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France this year. Paramount Animation, now overseen by Jennifer Dodge, the new president, recently gave audience a peek of a new “Survivor” movie featuring animal contestants, and the Christmas movie "The Naughty List" by director Robert Rodriguez. Up next in the studio's animation division is “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie,” slated for release in August.
