Emily in Paris is back for another season! At the start of the long-awaited premiere, Emily goes for a run. She can't focus since she's preoccupied with her heated makeout session with Gabriel.

Camille is reeling now that he's remaining in Paris and she wants to talk.

Gabriel and Emily have a meeting at Savoir, but on the way there, Gabriel's casual attitude toward the whole thing (and light flirting) doesn't help. However, when Emily recalls visiting St. Tropez with Mathieu, he becomes envious.

Arriving at the workplace is Camille. She confides in Emily that she is certain that Gabriel is experiencing something, and she is determined to find out what. Nothing about this lessens Emily's guilt. She tries to backpedal by saying that he is preoccupied with the restaurant, but Camille is aware that there is more going on.

The truth is, Emily and Mathieu are still together, but it is clear that Emily has other feelings. They stumble for the time being by assisting Mindy. She makes her way to the club, where she entertains everyone. Unfortunately, she is working on tips because she lacks papers. Before Emily brings Mindy home, there are also some bathroom jokes included because that is the degree of comedic wit we have reached.

The following day at work, things start to go south. Emily's attempts to assist Julian fail and she unintentionally takes over his Pierre account. This calls for a battle, and Julian vows to exact justice. Emily returns home with this amusing bag bearing Pierre's beaming visage and starts to prepare her belongings.

Gabriel begins to establish himself with Antoine while Emily is gone by showcasing his excellent cooking abilities. He calls Emily and confesses that he can't stop thinking about her after hearing Normandy's praise for his food. In response, Emily says that although she cares for him, their meeting was an error.

However, Mathieu just so happens to be at the cabin door and hears everything. He departs just as the train is ready to leave, not wanting to be second fiddle to a cheat, as the train departs and Emily travels alone to St. Tropez.

Review

Emily in Paris returns with Emily no closer to learning French, still caught up in awkward love triangles and now on her way to St Tropez alone. It is unknown if we’ll actually see her attempting to integrate into the culture as the season is up for debate. But with Mathieu out of the picture, it leaves room for the simple but formulaic love triangle with Gabriel and Camille to become the central focus.

This is a light, breezy drama but it is unknown whether this season can improve over the last. The inclusion of toilet humor is a disappointing choice, while the story so far seems to be settling predominantly on the aforementioned cliched triangle. Let’s see if this one improves over time.
