Film Veteran Todd Brown Launches Canadian Production House Rawk Moving Pictures
- Aug 19, 2026
Renowned film executive Todd Brown has unveiled Rawk Moving Pictures Corp, set to amplify Canadian film industry's voice with innovative storytelling. The company, which Brown plans to guide with the same zest for exciting experimentation he displayed throughout his previous 17 years at XYZ Films, is making waves with “Two Gun Cohen.” The film represents Hong Kong director Johnnie To’s English-language debut.
"Two Gun Cohen" showcases the grandeur of true-life events, centering around Morris Cohen, a Jewish immigrant to Canada. His journey carries him from the Prairies to the heart of the Chinese Revolution, standing alongside modern China's founding father, Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The director, To, has characterized the project as a flavoursome "dim sum Western."

Beyond "Two Gun Cohen," Rawk's initial line-up promises a diversely compelling slate. "Necropolis," a sci-fi horror marking the directing debut of Solmund MacPherson; "The Barbarian King," the anticipated cult comedy by Corey Adams; and Hal Haberman's "Mr. Magnificent", teaming up again with Amber Ripley following the Sundance-selected debut "Special".
"Our industry thrives on unusual stories from striking talent," Brown asserted. "At Rawk, we prioritize the quality of the story and the talent behind it over the scale of the project. Our main focus is championing new voices from across the globe and working alongside industry stalwarts."
