Freakier Friday: Jamie Lee Curtis Fires Back at Negative Review
- Aug 11, 2025
Jamie Lee Curtis has responded strongly to a negative review from Time magazine regarding her new film, Freakier Friday. The publication shared a portion of their rather unfavourable review on social media, labeling the film as a "sequel with the sole purpose of cashing in on the fondness people have for the original movie and nothing more," also criticising it for its "ugly costumes" and "humiliating scenarios".
In reaction to the critique, Curtis commented that the review seemed unduly harsh, furthermore adding that she, as well as others, truly love the film.
Freakier Friday is the sequel to the original Freaky Friday, in which Tess (played by Curtis) and her daughter Anna (played by Lindsay Lohan) experience a body switch that in turn amplifies their bond. The sequel adds an extra twist to this scenario, involving yet another generation. Actor Chad Michael Murray also reappears in the sequel.

Chad Michael Murray has since commended his co-stars, Curtis and Lohan, for their work during the film's premiere in July. Despite Time magazine's unkind review, Freakier Friday is receiving positive reception from fans and many critics. It has a 94 percent audience score and 73 percent critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, along with grossing more than $30 million at the box office.
Freakier Friday, directed by Nisha Ganatra and released by Disney, is currently showing in theaters.
