The much-anticipated spin-off of Game of Thrones is here. Titled House of the Dragon, the series is sure to garner high viewership and ratings.

In the opening scene, Rhaenyra Targaryen recounts Rhaenys' rejection to the Iron Throne by the Lords of Westeros due to her gender. The flashback shows Rhaenyra soaring over King's Landing on her dragon. Game of Thrones enthusiasts should remember the assault of Daenerys on the capital in "The Bells."

The scene cuts between Rhaenyra in the sky and a view of the dragon swooping low and frightening people. Although they should be used to this as they have likely spent hundreds of years in the shadows of these creatures.

This is a brave decision. One of the most divisive Game of Thrones episodes is "The Bells." Sean T. Collins, calls it "the most audacious episode of Game of Thrones ever" in his Rolling Stone review. Vulture calls it the finest episode of Game of Thrones ever made.

After the episode, Alex McLevy of the A.C. Club says that "The Bells" emphasizes how Game of Thrones can "twist the classic narrative of swords and sorcery" into something terrifying and revolutionary.

It is evident from watching "The Heirs of the Dragon" that everyone involved gave Game of Thrones a lot of thought. House of the Dragon analyzes and reflects on both the original work and the reactions to it.
