This season's House of the Dragon finale opens with Rhaenyra discovering Luke gazing at a map of Westeros in episode 10. He opposes both the Sea Snake's demise and the transfer of Driftmark to him. Rhaenyra notes that she has had to learn the hard way that patience and accepting your fate are virtues. She is cut off by the news of Rhaenys' arrival.

When Rhaenys arrives, she instantly announces that Viserys is dead. She continues by saying that Aegon has been named the new leader. Daemon is very enraged and accuses Rhaenys of failing to completely destroy them all. However, Rhaenys responds by pointing out that this was not her fight to begin with.

Rhaenyra gives birth, but the child dies shortly after. It's a painful way for Rhaenyra to welcome a new child into this world and a horrifying thing to behold. Daemon to the beach to lament after seeing glimpses of the aftermath and burns the infant with dragon fire.

Ser Erryk then shows up and swears his devotion to Rhaenyra, who is now seated with her own crown and supporters by her side. This obviously falls short of Alicent and Aegon's total control over King's Landing, but it's at least a beginning.

While everyone else wishes for battle, Rhaenyra carefully considers her alternatives and exercises restraint. After some time has passed, Lord Corlys returns with Rhaenyra to find Daemon vanished from the room and expresses respect for this. Rhaenyra has the full support of his house and fleet, as Corlys points out. Rhaenyra chooses to wait it out rather than engage in combat just yet.

The Narrow Sea and the Stepstones are completely under Corlys' command, he reveals. This implies that they have a monopoly over trade and entry into King's Landing.
