- May 28, 2025
The Cannes Film Festival was abuzz with talk of 'Heads or Tails?', a unique western delivered by the talented duo of Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis. The film, focusing on the central character Rosa portrayed by Nadia Tereszkiewicz, who escapes an unhappy marriage, was hailed for its originality and depiction of universal themes such as love, power, and politics. Rai Cinema's CEO, Paolo del Brocco, lauded the film's capacity for global impact and celebrates its innovation.
Actor John C. Reilly's character, Buffalo Bill, steals the limelight with a major focus on his myth-making storytelling. Buffalo Bill is a curious character, having crafted the myths surrounding the American West while also living its reality.
The festival attendees were treated to scoops from Reilly's upcoming projects. Reilly's mesmerizing narrative lands him an interesting role in the UK and Europe bound, 'Mr. Romantic'. Among other attributes, the film basks in its exploration of the themes of love and longevity.
Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Alessandro Borghi lent additional star power to the festival as their characters navigate complex emotions, love, and worldly miscommunications. Their characters' journeys inch them towards surreal landscapes, a major departure from classic western scenery, marking the film as a titillating modern take on the genre.

Rigo de Righi and Zoppis were appreciative of their colleague Francesco Sossai's work, 'The Last One for the Road', while also expressing optimism about the upcoming wave of Italian directors.
'Heads or Tails?' is likely to witness international success, similar to films like Margherita Vicario’s 'Gloria!', Trudie Styler’s 'An Ode to Naples', and Paolo Genovese’s 'Madly'.
Del Brocco envisages a future where Italian cinema carves its distinct, global identity, while also stressing the capacity of films to generate emotional resonance with audiences.
