Lea Michele is making a comeback to a role that made her a household name. She will be returning to the music dramedy "Glee," the brainchild of Ryan Murphy, set to air on Disney+ and Hulu. Multiple sources have confirmed this news to Variety, exciting fans of the original show.

Michele’s "Glee" co-stars, Heather Morris, who portrayed Brittany Pierce, and Chord Overstreet, who played Sam Evans, have also hinted at their potential return to the reboot through their social media posts.

From 2009 to 2015, for six seasons, Michele was the leading lady of "Glee" playing the talented yet overambitious Rachel Berry, an original member of the McKinley High School glee club. Throughout the series, Berry found herself at odds with her peers due to her relentless drive to succeed, navigating her dreams of Broadway fame and her personal reputation and relationships in parallel, including the on-off relationship with Finn Hudson, character played by Cory Monteith and Michele's real-life partner until his unfortunate passing.

Before entering "Glee", Michele was already an accomplished Broadway star, with notable performances in "Les Misérables," "Ragtime," "Fiddler on the Roof", and "Spring Awakening." Post "Glee," Michele took on several smaller roles in film and TV, including a stint in Murphy's "Scream Queens." However, Michele's career reignited in 2022 when she joined Broadway’s "Funny Girl" revival, winning widespread recognition for her stellar performance as Fanny Brice, mimicking the aspirations of her "Glee" character.

The creator, Murphy, recently mentioned in an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" sharing the reboot script with ten original cast members, who all expressed enthusiasm over the idea. Michele also articulated her fondness for "Glee" and her desire to join any "Glee" reboot in an earlier interview with "E! News".

The "Glee" reboot comes after the series finale aired on March 20, 2015, where Rachel ends up winning a Tony, marries Jesse St. James (Michele’s real-life best friend Groff) and becomes a surrogate mother for Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) and Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss).
