Neon recently secured the rights to Chloe Domont's highly anticipated film "A Place in Hell," a workplace thriller led by star-studded cast Michelle Williams, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Andrew Scott. The movie, having recently concluded production in New Jersey, awaits a release date for its theatrical debut, with Neon spearheading U.S. distribution and Republic Pictures handling international territories.
"A Place in Hell," penned and directed by Domont, tells the tale of two women in a noted criminal law firm. This is the second feature film for Domont following “Fair Play” in 2023, another workplace thriller that focused on two romantically involved colleagues in an unforgiving hedge fund. "Fair Play," which starred Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, receiving critical acclaim and was bought by Netflix for an impressive $20 million. Domont started her journey in the television industry, writing and directing episodes for renowned shows like HBO’s “Ballers,” Showtime's drama “Billions,” and the USA Network’s “Suits.”
Neon, MRC, and Republic Pictures will jointly finance "A Place in Hell." Rian Johnson's company, T-Street, which had previously teamed up with Domont on "Fair Play," is producing this film. The deal was crafted by Alison Cohen, Emily Thomas, Jeff Deutchman representing Neon, and Peter McPartlin for Republic Pictures.

Recently, Neon took home the best picture Oscar for Sean Baker’s comedic romantic drama “Anora” and bagged its sixth consecutive Cannes Palme d’Or winner with Jafar Panahi’s crime thriller "It Was Just an Accident." Neon's upcoming projects include Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” Julia Ducournau’s body-horror drama “Alpha,” Raoul Peck’s “Orwell: 2+2=5” and Michael Angelo Covino’s Dakota Johnson-led “Splitsville.”
Republic Pictures has gained traction recently by backing "Twinless," which won the audience award at Sundance, along with “September 5” and the music documentary “The Greatest Night in Pop.”
