Nobody Wants This Season 2: A Mix of Laughter and Interfaith Love
- Oct 28, 2025
The Netflix rom-com "Nobody Wants This" premiered its second season recently, continuing its depiction of interfaith love and humor. The first season revolved around a rabbi, Noah (Adam Brody), falling for a non-Jewish podcaster, Joanne (Kristen Bell), and dealt with intricate details of Jewish traditions and interfaith relationships. Despite some issues with its portrayal of Jewish female characters and moments of questionable humor, the show gained popularity for its originality in a television space where expressions of faith are rare.
The charm of the first season stemmed from the chemistry between Bell and Brody, helping the show to rise above genre clichés. The supporting cast, like Timothy Simons, Justine Lupe and Jackie Tohn, added depth to their characters.
However, with the advent of season two, some of the initial allure seems lost. The new creative team made efforts to resolve character flaws identified in the first season. However, in doing so, the focus shifts away from the original leads, Bell and Brody, resulting in a notable drop in their on-screen chemistry and overall appeal.

In the world of "Nobody Wants This," the new season picks up where the first left off, with Noah and Joanne gradually moving in together. Their primary disagreement remains Joanne's indecision over converting to Judaism. The season also brings new storylines with other characters to add to the romantic comedy mayhem.
However, as the season progresses, the affectionate and intelligent Noah transforms into a condescending character that is difficult to sympathize with. Joanne, despite being the series creator's resemblance, is still lacking in distinct personality traits.
The season also wavers in its perspective on Judaism, exploring it more as a worldview rather than a religion. However, the show invests in exploring Jewish traditions, adding depth to its narrative. The distinct interpretation of Jewishness in the world of "Nobody Wants This" is sure to make third season a curious watch.
