Fast forward to today, and we meet Monkey D. Luffy, who aspires to succeed Roger. Unfortunately, his boat starts sinking. He ends up in a barrel that drifts into a clash between two groups of pirates led by Lady Alvida. There, Luffy meets Koby. Koby is a young man who becomes his first friend and holds a negative view of pirates-a notion that Luffy disabuses him of.

The narrative then takes us a decade back to Windmill Village. There, a young Luffy wants to becoming a pirate. Here, he eats the Gum Gum Fruit, which grants him special abilities. We also meet Shanks, who imparts wisdom about the nuanced life of a pirate, much to the chagrin of Luffy.

Back to Lady Alvida's ship, Luffy and Koby are presented before her. Displaying indomitable courage, Luffy defies Alvida, revealing his unique stretchy skin and dispatching her with his trademark move.

The episode then takes us to Sixis Island, where the enigmatic Mr 7 fails to recruit Zoro into Baroque Works, culminating in a dramatic sword fight that leaves Mr 7 divided-literally. Meanwhile, Nami, a wily redhead, outsmarts a pair of pirates, making off with their ship and a mysterious map.

Rejoining Luffy and Koby, we discover that Koby dreams of joining the Navy. They arrive at Shell Island, intending to recruit a crew. Here, they cross paths with Zoro, Nami, and a haughty Marine named Helmeppo, son of Captain Morgan. Zoro is imprisoned for challenging Helmeppo, but with the help of Luffy and Nami-disguised as a Marine-they manage to escape.

During the daring breakout, Nami ingeniously swipes the keys to Morgan's secret safe, only to trigger an alarm. Undeterred, Luffy uses his powers to yank the safe from its housing, setting off a chain of events that leads to a showdown with Captain Morgan. Our heroes-Luffy, Nami, and Zoro-prevail, commandeering a ship to set sail for new adventures.

In the end, news of their exploits reaches Vice-Admiral Garp, who learns that the Grand Line map has been stolen. This also catches the attention of the eccentric pirate, Buggy, marking Luffy as a man to watch.

The first episode of One Piece sets the stage impressively, capturing the charm of the original manga while adding its unique flair. Despite minor CGI hiccups, such as the safe-pulling sequence, the episode is largely faithful to the source material. The episode sets the pace for a series that promises to dig deeper into the pirate lore, teasing a captivating journey ahead.
