Charles visits Jan in prison, hoping that she can tell him some hints about their most recent case. Of course, old habits die hard; Jan makes a few passes at him while they talk. She drops the important hint that the murderer is like an artist who won’t be able to leave a masterpiece unfinished.

Meanwhile, Alice and Mabel plan a party. There’s a leak in Alice’s apartment, so the party is at Mabel’s place. As much as the podcasters want a “normal” night, Oliver and Charlie know that’s not possible, so they join Mabel’s event. And it looks like some fans have snuck in to comment on “story progress” as well!

But of course, the party is not as it seems. It turns out Oliver has a gift for figuring out people’s “tells” ---small bits of body language that hint that they’re lying. And whenever Alice is lying, she plays with her hair.

Alice comes clean quickly. Her entrance into Mabel’s life was uncanny. She had been lying about going to Oxford, fearing that her poor upbringing would not let her sell any paintings. Alice flees in shame, prompting Mabel to chase after her.

Along with Alice, a diner owner named Ivan is added to the list of suspects thanks to a bloody matchbook. And Oliver is given some shocking news: his son Will is not biologically related to him at all! How will this impact the case? More will be revealed next episode!
