"Project Hail Mary" recently previewed to the film press and the initial responses indicate it's a film not to be missed. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, this sci-fic comedy has already been tipped as a potential heavyweight at the Oscars next year.

Eric Marchen, Film critic, termed the movie as "the first great blockbuster of 2026", lauding its remarkable cinematography by Greig Fraser and applauding Ryan Gosling's star performance. Adriano Caporusso joined in the praise, highlighting the film's combination of humor, drama, and suspense, successfully infusing humanity into a space epic filled with breathtaking visuals.

Although Barry Hertz of the Globe and Mail had some reservations, they were dwarfed by the outstanding performance by Gosling. Entertainment journalist Scott Menzel touted "Project Hail Mary" as a "masterpiece", predicting its mighty presence in the upcoming awards season.

Television host Jeff Conway echoed the praises, labelling it as a successful blend of various themes, highlighted especially by the performances of Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller. Gosling plays the role of a brainy school teacher, Ryland Grace, who wakes up on a spaceship light years away from Earth, without any memory of how he got there. As his memory rekindles, Ryland embarks on an adventure that lies beyond our earthly realm.

Gosling debuted the first five minutes of the film at the Comic Con 2025, where he discussed his connection to his character. He found that just like his character, he too would react to a lot of situations as any ordinary person might.

"Project Hail Mary" has already gotten the buzz going, thanks to its early positive reactions. With the film's release shortly approaching, anticipation is high for what looks set to be a space odyssey that is sure to captivate audiences around the globe.
