Remakes Coming in 2022

Movies & TV

This list is definitely a little bit shorter than our sequel movie list, but nevertheless it is (sometimes) nice to see some of our favorite movies given a little bit of a face lift.

Here are the remakes coming to our screens this year.

Scream (Jan. 14, 2022)

Arguably the best series that deserves to be kept alive. I'm absolutely a fan of the originals with Neve Campbell but have definitely enjoyed the spinoffs over the years. Especially MTV's "Scream" with Emma Roberts which really just makes fun of fraternity/sorority college kids making dumb enough decisions to get slashed.

This one returns with our OG cast of Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette.

Cyrano (Jan. 28, 2022)

Maybe this one is just me, but for French class in high school, we had to watch Cyrano de Bergerac starring Gerard Depardieu.

This time, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion from Game of Thrones) puts a new twist on the legendary lover, by swapping stature (?) for an extra large nose. The movie is going to be a musical as well, featuring tunes by indie band The National.

Remakes Coming in 2022

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Feb. 18, 2022)

Netflix is taking movie rights with this one. Another big OG Halloween horror film gets a reboot.

Sneakerella (Feb. 18, 2022)

Disney Plus will find a home for this new Cinderella remake. Apparently there is a big ol' world out there for sneaker fanatics and this one plays to those super fans. If the shoe fits …

The Batman (March 4, 2022)

Here we get another version of the Caped Crusader, this time via Robert Pattinson. I really don't get all the different versions of Batman. I feel like we've gone through quite a rotation in the past decade which seems a little unnecessary?

I am utterly perplexed as the casting because there is no actor I picture being in this role less than Pattinson. Nothing beats Christian Bale for me but this one is supposed to be pretty gritty.
