Is there any other sensation like the one you get when you discover television comedies that go straight to your funny bone? Obviously, not every comedy show is going to resonate with people all over the world. Some only appeal to a specific subset of the population, while others go on to achieve worldwide notoriety. These shows are some of the very best examples of each genre. And we simply cannot wait to view them once more in their entirety.

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Curb Your Enthusiasm is a sitcom created and starring Larry David. David plays a fictionalized version of himself who gets into a wide variety of awkward situations. Besides L.D., there are a number of other comedic legends who have agreed to participate. He co-stars with Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin, and J.B. Smoove in the critically acclaimed show, which has already taken home two Emmys.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia surpassed all other American live-action programs as the longest-running of all time. This distinction is well deserved by the hilarious show. The sitcom, created by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Glenn Howerton, was given a massive renewal in 2020, guaranteeing its continued airing through at least Series 18.

The program centers on the potentially horrible folks who operate Paddy's Pub, played by Danny DeVito and Kaitlin Olson. In the series, the gang has broken nearly every law there is to break in order to gain money, including selling alcohol to minors and stealing drugs from the mafia. Absolutely everyone should see it because it's insane in the best way.

Monty Python's Flying Circus

Monty Python's Flying Circus is regarded as the 49th finest television program of all time by IMDB. This speaks volumes about the quality of the zany sketch show and the humor of the Monty Python group. Legends of humor including John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Graham Chapman, and Michael Palin starred in the series.

The Monty Python team authored every single one of their skits, with the unwritten rule that whoever proposed a certain skit would get the starring role in that particular skit. The show had a cult following that regularly rewatched all 45 episodes since it made fun of so many different topics.

Seinfeld

Seinfeld is widely regarded as one of the best comedy programs of all time, and it's easy to see why given that it's won a staggering 10 Emmys. The show featured the antics of New York comic Jerry Seinfeld and his equally dysfunctional buddies, played by Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards, and Jason Alexander.

It should come as no surprise that Jerry Seinfeld's Seinfeld is hilarious, given that he created it. You can probably relate to the issues Jerry and his friends face (especially if you reside in New York), and you can probably also relate to and root for these characters. Many comedies have tried and failed to replicate Seinfeld's success because of the standard it set for the genre.
