Initial reactions are pouring in for Tom Cruise's latest venture, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, following a series of press screenings. Social media bursts with praise for the movie, hailing it as the "action movie of the summer.", ahead of the official reviews releasing on Wednesday.

This movie is the eighth installment of the celebrated Paramount Pictures spy action franchise and bears significant expectations from both the studio and the box office. The Hollywood Reporter revealed in November 2024 that the film's journey was challenging, with a budget close to $400 million and production delays due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes making it one of the costliest productions.

Furthermore, despite the enduring popularity of the Mission: Impossible franchise, its 2023 edition, Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One did not fare well at the box office.

The Final Reckoning brings viewers into the action a few months after the events of Dead Reckoning. The plot follows Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team at IMF as they attempt to thwart the evil plans of ruthless assassin Gabriel (Esai Morales) who aims to gain control of a world-threatening rogue artificial intelligence known as "The Entity."

Alongside Cruise and Morales, the cast includes franchise veterans Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, Hayley Atwell, Henry Czerny, and Pom Klementieff.

The press screenings were aligned with the film's world premiere in Tokyo, Japan on May 5 and its impending gala debut at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is set to hit theaters worldwide on May 23.
