Unearthed Secrets: Kevin Bacon Reveals Dead Body Discovery During "Wild Things" Shoot
- Apr 20, 2025
In a fun game of "Know Their Lines?" with Variety, actor Kevin Bacon dropped a shocking revelation about his time during the 1998 erotic thriller "Wild Things." According to Bacon, a real-life scare resembled a scene from a horror movie, as a genuine dead body was found on set.
Bacon recounted the chilling discovery that occurred while filming in a mosquito-filled swamp alongside a river. The production team had floated a raft into the water to set a light when a crew member spotted the body floating. This eerie incident, Bacon recollected, encapsulated the overall vibe of the movie.
Directed by John McNaughton, "Wild Things" featured Denise Richards and Neve Campbell as teenagers who manipulate their high school guidance counselor for a hefty trust settlement. Bacon played the role of Ray Duquette, a police detective sceptical of their actions. Following the macabre discovery during filming, the police were brought in to manage the situation, ensuring it did not disrupt the filming process.

Bacon, lately seen doing the press tour for his new Prime Video horror series "The Bondsman," seems somewhat partial to the genre, given his enthusiasm for the shared experiences it creates. Bacon plays a murdered bondsman in the series, who is enlisted by Satan to track and eliminate demons that have escaped from the underworld, joining "Maxxxine" as another horror adventure backed by the actor.
Speaking on his love for the genre, Bacon focused on the collective experience that such intense thrillers afford, comparing it to a comedy's shared laughter. His full conversation with Variety is available for viewing below.
