Oscar nominee Wagner Moura, famed for his roles in “The Secret Agent” and “Civil War”, is in discussions to join elites Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper in the upcoming “Ocean’s” prequel from Warner Bros. Directed by Bradley Cooper, the film, set for release on June 25, 2027, is also being produced by Cooper in partnership with LuckyChap, a company spearheaded by Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Milan Popelka and Robbie.
Plot details remain undisclosed; however, during CinemaCon, Robbie revealed that the prequel would unfold at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, delving into the life of Danny Ocean’s con-artist parents before their son initiated the iconic Las Vegas casino heist in “Ocean’s 11”.
The “Ocean’s 11” franchise began with its release in 1960, featuring Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford, and Dean Martin. The film underwent a reboot in 2001 by Steven Soderbergh, casting stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and others. Two more sequels emerged in 2004 and 2007, while the franchise’s 2018 reboot was led by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna. The series has grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide.

In addition to Robbie and Cooper, renowned executive producers including Josey McNamara, Bronte Payne, Bobby Wilhelm, Jay Roach, Michelle Graham, Lee Isaac Chung, Ashley Jay Sandberg, Gary Ross, and Olivia Milch are involved in the project. The upcoming prequel takes inspiration from characters designed by George Clayton Johnson & Jack Golden Russell. The film’s previous screenplay versions were handled by Carrie Solomon.
