"War 2" Set to Be India's First Film Showing in Dolby Cinema

Yash Raj Films (YRF) is preparing to set a cinematic milestone as "War 2" is poised to be the first Indian movie to be presented in Dolby Cinema in India. The Hindi and Telugu-language action sequel is scheduled to be released in premium format theaters on August 14th.
Produced by Aditya Chopra, "War 2" is the sixth entry in YRF's blockbuster spy universe which features Indian stars Hrithik Roshan and NTR for their first on-screen pairing. This move signifies a significant expansion of Dolby's premium cinema experience in the Indian market. Besides being shown locally, the film will also be released in international markets such as North America, U.K., U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.
Indian cinema lovers will be able to witness the thrilling spectacle in the nation's inaugural Dolby Cinema location at the City Pride Multiplexes in Kharadi, Pune. There are plans to introduce this premium format to other markets including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi and Ulikkal.
A decades-long collaboration between YRF and Dolby, which has continuously pushed the technological envelope in Indian cinema, is further enhanced with this development. YRF was also India's first music label to launch Dolby Atmos Music in 2020 with its "Best of YRF" album collection.
Michael Archer, VP of worldwide cinema sales and partner management at Dolby Laboratories, spoke of the endurance of the partnership and its many milestones, emphasizing that "War 2" symbolizes a landmark moment for Indian cinema.
Rohan Malhotra, VP of distribution at Yash Raj Films, further expressed their commitment to pioneering technological advancement in order to deliver immersive cinematic experiences to its audiences not only in India but across the globe.
The Dolby Cinema format combines Dolby Vision's superior color and contrast skills with Dolby Atmos' encompassing audio technology, showcased in specially designed theaters with features to minimize distractions.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, "War 2" will not only premiere locally but also in Imax theaters across major international markets such as North America, Middle East, U.K., Europe, APAC, Africa, and South East Asia.
